Repeating GMAT™

  GMAT BOOKS

Procedure

The GMAC has established a retest policy to ensure the validity and security of the GMAT™ for all test takers.

You may take the GMAT™ only once per calendar month and no more than five times within any 12-month period.

The retest policy applies even if you cancel or ETS cancels your scores from a test administration within that time period. Test scheduling representatives and test center administrators are not authorized to waive or modify the retest policy for any reason.

If you take the GMAT™ more often than allowed, your new scores will not be reported and you will forfeit your test fee. You may also be prohibited from future GMAT™ testing. The retest policy will be enforced even if a violation is not immediately identified and your test scores are reported. In such cases, your scores will be canceled and your score report recipients will be notified of the cancellation.

If you wish to take the GMAT™ more than five times within a 12-month period, you must request permission in writing by mail or e-mail. Requests will only be accepted after the fifth test has been taken.

Your written request must contain the following information:

  • Reason for wanting to test more than five times
  • Previous test dates and locations
  • Full (legal) name
  • Mailing address
  • Date of birth (at least month and day)
  • Most recent test appointment number (if known)
  • Daytime telephone number
  • Fax number (if available)
  • E-mail address (if available)
  • Social Security or national ID number (optional)
